This is
How I
TALK
Part of my MA graduation project, this multi-media project about stammering encompasses film, animation, image & written word format.
Since it was conceived during Lockdown in the UK, It was important to me not to compromise the quality or the potential of the project due to physical restrictions at the time.
As a result, I incorporated the use of animation, online interviews, Shorthand & other various visual symbols to demonstrate the project's themes, ideas & emotions.
Shorthand
Is the platform that enabled me to tell the story of This Is How I talk in a visually cohesive informative manner that rather added to the story. You can check here the full scope of the project:
Animation
During the Research stage for the essay part of the project, it became increasingly clear that most studies were based on the perspective & observation of therapists/conversational partners/listeners and clinicians only.
This propelled me to try and find studies that explain the experience of stammering through the eyes and personal experiences of people who stammer themselves.
One such study asked stammerers to describe their moment of stutter. Subsequently, I decided to collaborate with artist Zita Mosolygo to try and visually illustrate their answers.
